I could buy a really nice wall tent or a lot of hotel rooms for $43,500.

I just can't see the price point making sense on an off-road capable trailer at $43kUSD.
While in Charlotte this past May for the NASCAR race, we saw a race team that had taken a Ford F-250 4x4 truck, removed the body, placed a van shell on it, and then installed a convertible lift top with sleeping area, slide outs, toilet, kitchen, outdoor grill, dining table, and computer/electronics area.
It was awesome.
They said they had less than $30k in the entire vehicle.
I'll try to find pics.
CP on the trailer.

Dude that thing is a beast.
While I do like it, almost $50,000 is A LOT of moulah. I would rather buy a decent M401 and outfit it myself for a 1/4 of the cost (OR LESS).

I hear you, but have you seen the videos? they are SERIOUSLY engineered.

I love the idea and it's very well thought out, but it's also about $20-25k overpriced for what it is and does, especially for a used 2010 model.
You can get a new off-road teardrop for about $10k from Little Guy, or something like an A-liner for $15-20k. Take that, then spend about $5k at your local Cabela's or whatever loading up on all sorts of cool camping gear (chairs, shower tent, crapper tent, solar, etc), and you'll end up wayyyyy ahead on the deal.

Those would be okay for 2 people, and for light duty wheelin, but I wouldn't take one really far off road or with the family. As far as money for space, I agree its a crack pipe all the way, but factor in all the suspension, the durability and the hundreds of little things that would make this a treat to tow off road its hard to find anything in the US that does the job.

I'll give them that. But I still don't know if I could justify $50 grand.

no I hear you, its a rip...but have you priced out an airstream (cheapest is a 16 foot sport at $43,000)? You have to think of this is an airstream for the overlander.

I actually can't say that I have ever priced out an Airstream.
Also, I am not sure the Jeep could handle towing that weight behind it...
I would be more likely to get something like this:
Maybe if I had a larger rig I would be more inclined towards a larger trailer like that though.

The listed weight is only 2400 lbs. Crazy light. Lighter than that sled for sure. I mean, there is no way I could justify it, but the idea of having an enclosed, hard side, fully prepped family ready off road happy trailer is pretty damn appealing to me.

Really? 2,400? is that dry? It seems like it should be WAY heavier.
And I guess I could see the convenience and desire for this if having a family. To haul something that large out to the middle of no where for just me and the dog (I presume the other vehicle I am traveling with to have their own equipment) would be a bit much. But if it were me, a wife, a few kids, and the dog... Then yea, this would be spare 50 grand convenient.

Towing off road seems like a huge pain in the ass for me. More stuff to break on the trail and more money I have to shell out to maintain. I would take a RTT any day of the week

These trailers are what I'm using as inspiration for my trailer. Although I think it's going to take longer than I had hoped just by looking at cost of materials for what I want to do.

This may sound ridiculous, but I have a trailer I've been planning on rebuilding. Yes, it seems that I do have just about everything laying around.
This is my 1963 Serro Scotty Sportsman.
I bought it like 10 years ago for $700 and it is in need of a total rebuild at this point.
One of the leading ideas is to make it more rugged. Probably not "haul it down the Rubicon" rugged, but more like light wheeling rugged, with skid plates, etc.

I've been toying with the idea of a project like that, but the kids have got to be older and letting me sleep for that to happen.
